Metering & Controls
“Our work is not magic, it is only utilizing science and technology to the favor of our customers”
You cannot control what you cannot measure, and all the savings we do should be tangible and viewable by the customer. Smart Age offers a wide range of electric and hydronic meters to measure electric consumption and flow rates along the entire infrastructure of the facility.
Electric Energy meters
Smart Age offers a wide range of electric meters, suitable for single-phase and three-phase systems. Besides power and energy, our meters can log several parameters important to reveal the electric quality of a site, such as harmonics and power factor. All meters can export their logged data to a central controller to be then viewed and analyzed via the energy management software. Clients can also enjoy extensive capability of analysis and reporting.
Hydronic Energy & Flow Metering
Smart Age compact and elegant energy meters are designed for district heating, chilled water, hot water, as well as combined applications. Our range of meters are installed in-line for small dimensioned pipes, or non-invasively for multi-inch pipes where readings then rely on ultrasonic technology.
Our range of meters enable optimum measurement of energy consumption and flow, with minimum maintenance and long-term stability. Moreover, most meters are equipped with radio module for easy data transfer to the master controller, to be finally viewed via our energy management system for extensive analysis and flexible reporting.
For easy view and management of results, we offer our advanced energy management system that reads and connects to our meters. The energy software allows our clients to monitor and log all energy consuming terminals for continuous evaluation and corrective actions.
For considerably energy consuming and complicated sites, the energy monitoring system can be installed before conducting any changes or solutions, where the existing consumption is monitored and then compared with the enhanced consumption, as before-and-after scenarios.
Our system offers the users several control features such as detecting energy leakages, double-checking energy bills, generating energy reports and comparative charts, etc…
Boiler Controls
Heating systems such as boilers should be able to communicate with the internal and external environment, to dynamically alter their mode of operation and maintain an optimal energy supply accordingly. Therefore, there should be a “manager” sensing the load requirements, and feeding them in to the primary supply side of the system for execution.
Smart Age offers various programmable boiler controllers with extensive input and outputs, so the designer can setup the required case scenarios and apply it to the heating system of interest. The user can control several heating sources at the same time, giving priority to one over the other, sequencing their operations, programming case scenarios, etc. Example of controlled commands can be such as valve opening and closing, flow control, mixing, diverting, cascading, primary-auxiliary setting etc. With such control, savings can reach up to 20% compared to uncontrolled heating sources.
Radiator Solutions
– Thermostatic Radiator Controls
A chronic problem we suffer from with our radiators is the overheating or under-heating that may occur in some areas of the entire facility. When we turn on the boiler, the radiators will start exchanging heat with the room environment and will continue to heat up the room even if the latter reached the desired temperature. This causes discomfort for the habitants, who may not be able to turn off the boiler because other rooms may still be cold or have not reached the desired temperature.
For this problem we offer our smart thermostatic radiator controls from Danfoss. With these control valves installed, each and every radiator now can be programmed to work in only specific times and aiming to reach only a specific temperature. The radiator valve automatically switches off the radiator once the requested temperature is reached, and then turns it on again once the room temperature drops from the set value. Just as an example, imagine your bathroom radiator turns on automatically from 7:00 to 8:00 am only with a set temperature of 25°C, and your living room radiator works from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, and your bedroom from 8:00 to 10:00 pm on 21°C temperature, then overnight maintains an 18°C… On top of all the ergonomics offered by this solution, the fuel savings can reach up to 40%!
– Aluminum Radiator Reflectors
An add-on complementary solution to the radiator thermostats can be our aluminum radiator reflectors. Although widely used, heating radiators are considered as heavy energy consumers and suffer from many inefficiencies and drawbacks that are worth targeting. One chronic problem is that radiators are considered as hot spots, because they heat up the room from one corner trying to reach the rest of the room which will be left colder. Also, the radiator elements hung on the wall produce heat in all directions, making 40% of the produced heat go into the wall behind it where it is simply lost. With our reflectors placed behind the radiators, all the heat generated by the radiator is reflected back into the room, speeding us the ambience heating to realize a new level of comfort. Several independent test bodies prove that this great yet low cost solution can reduce fuel consumption used for radiator heating by up to 20%.
